Privacy policy

1. Who this applies to

This policy describes how the TCX browser extension (“TCX”, “we” in the sense of the extension you install) handles information when you use it on chatgpt.com. TCX is not affiliated with OpenAI or ChatGPT.

2. What data TCX processes

TCX can read conversation content from the ChatGPT page only when you are on chatgpt.com and only as needed to provide its features—for example, when you choose to save a temporary chat, or when you open a previously saved thread from the sidebar.

Saved threads may include user messages and assistant replies (including structured or HTML content where the extension captures it), plus metadata such as a title derived from your first message, timestamps, and identifiers used to list and reopen saves.

Saving is not automatic: you initiate it with Save Chat.

3. Where your saves are stored

Data you save through TCX is stored locally in your browser using the IndexedDB API (for example, under a database such as tcx_saved_chats). There is no TCX-operated cloud service in this design that receives or hosts your saved conversations.

Your use of ChatGPT itself remains subject to OpenAI's terms and privacy practices, which are separate from this extension.

4. Permissions

The extension declares permissions required by its manifest (such as storage as applicable). TCX is configured to run on https://chatgpt.com/* only.

5. Data retention and deletion

Saved data persists on your device until you delete individual saves in TCX, clear site data for chatgpt.com, remove the extension, or otherwise wipe your browser profile. TCX does not provide cloud backup; if you need a long-term archive, use your own export or backup practices outside TCX.

6. Sale of data and analytics

TCX does not sell your saved chats. The extension is not designed to upload your conversation archives to TCX servers (there is no such backend for that purpose in the described implementation).

7. Changes to ChatGPT or the extension

ChatGPT's website can change. TCX relies on the current page structure; updates may be needed for the extension to keep working. We may update this policy when practices change; the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect substantive revisions.

8. This website

The marketing site you are reading may be hosted like any static site. It does not need your ChatGPT data to function. If we add analytics or forms later, we will describe them here.
